Huiching (Annick) Chen teaches middle school and upper school Chinese at Kent Denver School in Denver, Colorado. She also presents in various workshops and conferences in technology and teaching methodologies both locally and internationally.
Annick earned her Bachelor’s Degree in French from National Central University in Taiwan in 1993. She then continued her education in Art and English, and worked on French K-12 teaching license at University of Northern Colorado. Annick earned her Master’s Degree in Visual Arts in 1998 from UNC. Before taking her position as a Chinese teacher at Kent Denver School, Annick taught English as a Second Language, Chinese, and French from 2000 to 2016 with Denver Public Schools. She established the Chinese program at Abraham Lincoln High School in 2003 and at South High School in 2015. In 2007, she helped found Colorado Chinese Language Teachers Consortium. She chaired the World Language Department at Lincoln between 2008 and 2010 and involved in Data Team and Collaborative School Committee from 2007-2011. She also served in the World Language Advisory Group and World Languages Assessment Team for Denver Public Schools helping train World Language teachers in Comprehensible-Input-Based methodologies and creating district-wide WL assessments from 2007 to 2016. From 2011 to 2014 she played the principal’s role at Colorado Chinese Language School. Among her various achievements, she was a recipient of the “Mile High Teacher” in 2007, “Teacher Leader of the Year” from Denver Public Schools’ Teacher Leader Academy Award in 2015, and was selected as the “Teacher of the Year” by Colorado Congress of Foreign Language Teachers for 2015-2016 school year. For the twenty years of experience working on the field, Annick has gained valuable insight into curriculum building, language-teaching methodologies, assessment writing, teacher training, and educational technology. She is passionate about sharing and collaborating with other teachers. |
